What does photography mean?

Photography can't be defined in one way.It definition of photography defers from person to person.

When people ask me that what does photography mean? I tell them that , ' Photography is not just clicking photos with DSLR from various angles.Photography is art of capturing photos in a creative way, capturing the rare moment's that makes one feel happy, capturing emotions, capturing the important things that make up that moment important, something that is usually ignored by common people, capturing something that motivates people around you, that creates awareness among people. Photography is not about having good equipment. It is about how do you use the equipment you have. One may get hands on photography by using a normal basic mobile camera.'

This is my definition of photography. You defination can be different and you can also create your own definition. Its easy too.

Just write down all the words and thoughts that come to your mind when you think of photography.

And that's it combine these words into sentences.

Everyone has their own definition/thoughts about Photography.

Photography is mainly based on light conditions. You need to know about it (I would be explaining about it in blog afterwards.

What equipment do I need to start up in the field of photography?

As I always say, Photography is about what equipment you have, but it is about your skills, perspective of looking at things in a particular way and creativity.

So I generally suggest people to start with whatever equipment you have at the moment. No need to buy directly a DSLR.

You can start with normal basic mobile camera, roll camera, point and shoot camera, DSLR ,whatever you have.I also started my photography career by just a point and shoot camera. You just need your basics clear and then you can capture stunning photos with your equipment. I have seen people ,having DSLR cameras, having zero knowledge about photography , clicking those random photos and calling themselves as a Photographer. This sometimes make me laugh too. Some people click more beautiful photos with mobile camera than these so called photographers do.

So if you don't have a dslr, don't worry you can still start with in the field of photography.

How do I start with in the field of photography?

What I suggest new photographers is just practise and practise more. Be curious to learn more, explore new things, be passionate. Self learning is best way. Here are some tips that I would suggest to all beginners.

  • Make use of social media to fullest.

  • Watch videos on youtube by various photographers, follow them and see their work.Think on what makes the photograph stand out of others, list those points and try to implement them in you clicks.

  • Join various photography groups on whatsapp/facebook, see works by other photographers, share your work in the group get reviews and feedbacks this helps you to learn more.

  • Participate in various competitions, photowalks and interact with other photographers.

  • Read various blogs on Photography.

  • Read Photography magazines.

  • Self learning and practising is best, so whenever you get free time, just pick up your camera/mobile and click pictures of various things around you in various angles and various settings. Then view the pictures, judge yourself that which picture looks better and what makes it look better. This will helo you to learn more on yourselves.

That's all for this blog.Next blog would be about (Introduction to various Equipment s).
