Hello all! Welcome back to another blog post!

Today, I am going to review about my purchase few months ago - Tamron 70-300 mm f/4.0-5.6 Di LD Macro Telephoto Lens.

Many of you may know that I am into Street Photography, Wildlife Photography, Documentary etc. While photographing in the wild I always felt the need of little more zooming for capturing birds and animals in my camera. The kit lenses which we get with the camera are good for capturing habitat shots and close-up shots in some situations. But kit lenses won't always help in getting desired shots when you are shooting in wild. I was also one of the person who felt this need as i was not getting the results I wanted. That's the time when I thought of buying a new lens. If you go and search for Telephoto lens they are pretty expensive and as a Student I couldn't afford such expensive lenses. So I thought to go for Medium Telephoto lens. i.e. 70-300 mm.

Initially I was looking for Original Nikkor 70-300 mm lens for my Nikon D5200. After researching a lot on internet and from local shops, I came to know that the Nikkor 70-300mm f/4-5.6 G lens is not compatible with my camera so I had to either buy the 70-300 VR lens which costed around 25000/- which was not fitting in my budget at that time. I decided to go for the 'Tamron 70-300mm'. Tamron is one of the leading camera lens manufacturing brand and this lens was also fitting in my budget.

So, now lets get on to the reviewing of this product, negative and positive points of the lens etc.

So this lens comes with a small packaging box with the details given on it. When you open the box, the first thing that you will see is the lens wrapped up plastic packaging and lens hood with it. If you are comparing your 55-200 mm/55-250 mm kit lens, then this lens is heavier as compared to the kit lens. With the lens you get user manual, warranty card etc.

Talking About the lens, the lens has inbuilt macro mode. The switch in front allows you to switch between normal mode and manual Mode. The macro mode can be switched on between 180 to 300 mm focal length. I haven't used macro mode that much as I am not used to Macro photography so I can't tell much about using macro mode.

The lens supports auto focusing and you can switch between manual and auto focusing mode. The lens hood that comes with the lens is reversible and very convenient while keeping it in your camera bag.

I have used this lens and has given me good results so far

Below are few images clicked using Tamron 70-300 mm Lens.

As you can see the results of this lens are too good. The images are sharp and crisp. The color quality is way too good. As far now I am happy with the results.

But there are few drawbacks of this product. This lens doesn't have Vibration Resistance/stabilizer , and yes ofcourse no one will be able to provide you with VR/Stabilizer at this cheap rate. The second drawback is that the there is less space between zooming ring and the back part of the lens, thus it takes a little effort to hold the back part and unmount the lens from the camera. The third things is that the lens motor makes too much noise while on auto-focusing mode.

Concluding the review I would suggest this lens for the people who want to start with wildlife or birding, or for people who want more focal length than normal kit lens and who are low on budget. The lens cost just around 10 thousand rupees and cheapest zoom lens out there. There are few drawbacks of the lens but the lens does well at the price it is bought. So I would say, definitely go for this lens if you are planning for it.
